Strangely, I have this system dual-booting with Windows 7 and I have no freezing or locking issues on that OS. I’ve had this type of issue before, so I started going through all the various fixes like updating device drivers, installing the latest Windows updates, scanning with SFC, etc., and eventually the problem went away. ..
-Fixing the issue:
- Resetting the phone to its factory settings.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
- Wiping the phone clean.
- Charging it for a long time (10-15 minutes).
- Rebooting the phone and restoring factory settings from backup.
- Posting a picture of the problem on social media or in an online forum to see if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it!
Method 1 – Uninstall Incompatible Programs
I think my problem was that I installed a few new programs recently which might have caused the freezing. Some of the programs were used to scan and/or modify my hardware (Speccy, Acronis True Image, f.lux, etc.), which might have started causing the problem. ..
However, any program can cause this issue, so it’s important to go through any new programs you may have installed and try to uninstall them if that fixes the problem. ..

Method 2 – Update Drivers & BIOS
If you have a Windows 10 device that’s been locked up for a while, it may be because of one of the drivers that you’ve installed. If you have an Nvidia or AMD graphics card, make sure to update the driver. If you have a network card, make sure to update the driver as well. And if you have an audio card, make sure to update the driver as well.

Windows 10 is a great operating system, but it can be improved with firmware updates. For example, if you have a Crucial SSD, you can download their storage executive software to do this for you.
Some users have had this issue with hardware that simply doesn’t have a Windows 10 driver. If that’s the case for you, the best option would be to disable the device or replace it with a newer version. For example, if you have a really old WiFi card and there simply isn’t a Windows 10 driver, try disabling it via Device Manager or the BIOS and see if the freezing goes away.
Your BIOS should be updated if everything is working fine, but it’s a good idea when something is wrong to check out my post on determining whether or not you can update the BIOS.
Method 3 – Adjust Paging File
If you notice that the problem only occurs when you are copying or moving large files or doing anything that requires extensive use of the hard disk, then the issue could be related to a paging file.
If you are using an SSD on your system, you can check the paging file by going to Control Panel, then System, clicking on Advanced System Settings, clicking on the Advanced tab, then clicking on Settings, clicking on the Advanced tab again, then clicking Change under Virtual Memory.
In order to optimize the paging file, you should keep the paging file on the same partition as your Windows OS and allow Windows to automatically manage its size. This will help to ensure that the paging file is always of a reasonable size and that it does not fill up your hard drive unnecessarily.
Method 4 – Disconnect All Devices
If the computer still won’t start, it may be because one or more devices are not working properly. To test this, disconnect any and all devices from the computer and then boot up. If the computer still won’t start, it may be because one or more devices are not compatible with Windows 10.
If you have any USB devices connected to your computer, disconnect them and try to rule out external devices as the cause.
Method 5 – Check for Faulty Hardware
This one is a little harder to detect and usually harder to fix too. If there is anything wrong with the hardware, you should see the problem with any other version of Windows you have installed. If you only have Windows 10 installed, you’ll need to perform a hardware test.
If you have any problems with your memory or hard drive, it’s important to check out my posts on diagnosing problems and checking your equipment. You can also access BIOS settings and see if there are any tests you can run from there.
If your computer is having problems, be sure to check the CD/DVD/Blu-ray drive. This can often be a problem because it is not commonly looked at.
Method 6 – Disable Overclocking
If you have a high-end machine with a high-end CPU, it might be best to turn off any overclocking or automatic CPU adjustments. This will help prevent Windows from freezing. ..
Some CPUs have a C6 state that tries to keep the CPU in a low power mode. This can cause problems because it can reduce the performance of the CPU. To make sure this is enabled, you should go into the BIOS and set everything to default.
DRAM modifications can cause unpredictable results if done incorrectly. Make sure you are reverted to default or automatic settings before making any changes.
Method 7 – Power Settings
This option will probably only help those who have a PCIe graphics card installed on their system. To make sure it is working, go to Control Panel, then Power Options and make sure you are using the High Performance plan first.
If you have the power to change your power settings, then please do so.

Method 8 – Clean Install Windows 10
If you still have problems with Windows 10 freezing, it might be a good idea to back up your data and do a clean install of Windows 10. This will take a little time and if you have the latest version of Windows 10 installed, the feature is now built into the OS.
